The Dostie home builder's family tradition began in 1958 when J. Rene Dostie, Sr. moved his family from Ontario, Canada to Jacksonville, Florida and founded Dostie Builders. Nearly 16 years later, Rene's oldest son, Richard, founded his own company, Richard R. Dostie New Home Collection, which operated from 1974 until 2003. During that summer, Richard's oldest son, Rick, entered the Jacksonville's homebuilding market with Legacy III Builders. In addition, Richard's two brothers have operated successful home building and construction companies in Northeast Florida for more than two decades.
